The Broke Fordwich sub-region of the Hunter Valley is often referred to as "the tranquil side of the valley"
- at times it is hard to believe that you are only 2 hours from Sydney.
Historically a busy way-station on the inland route from Sydney to Newcastle, Broke Fordwich now reflects a quieter way of life,
characterised by the rural surrounds.
Award winning vineyards, acclaimed restaurants and world-class activities are all part of the Broke Fordwich experience.
In 1994 Broke Fordwich was the first area formally recognised as a separate viticultural sub-region of the
Hunter Valley and viticulture has replaced dairy farming as the predominant agricultural activity.
There aren't any large resorts here, Broke has retained the dairy farming character of its past.
Rich in indiginous and european history, and bordered by the Wollemi and Yengo National Parks, the Broke Fordwich region
is an unforgettable holiday destination.
